Through the Youth Leadership program, Leadership SBM has shaped the future of our region challenging high school sophomores and juniors to become servant leaders in their families, schools, and community.

During the 10-month Youth Leadership Program, young people embark on a leadership journey connecting with themselves and their unique talents, exploring our community resources and challenges, and shaping the future through servant leadership.

Youth Program Highlights

  • 10-month community immersion program with each program day focusing on a theme of importance to our community
  • Full day team building retreat
  • Monthly program days from 8:30-3:15
  • Community as Classroom: program days held in locations across St. Joseph County
  • 40-45 cohort members from all area high schools
  • Learn about topics such as community history, mental health, servant leadership and much more
  • Complete a community improvement project in small groups
  • Meet students from all area high schools and home school
  • Sunday September 24, 2022 (3:30-4:30) -YL Orientation
  • Sunday October 2nd– YL Opening Retreat
  • Thursday October 7th– YL Program Day
  • Thursday November 10th– YL Program Day
  • Thursday December 1st– YL Program Day
  • Sunday January 8th– YL Program Day

  • Thursday March 9th– YL Program Day
  • Thursday March 23rd – YL Tentative “Snow Day”/Make up Day

Tuition and Application

Tuition for Youth Leadership is on a sliding scale based on family income.

*Full tuition sponsorships are available if necessary*

Scholarship aid is available. No accepted student will be turned away for inability to pay, and we will work with you find a payment plan that works for each family situation.

Application Process
Students who are rising sophomores and juniors may be nominated or can apply directly to the Youth Leadership program.  Nominated students will be notified  and invited to submit an application.  All applicants will be invited for a follow up conversation based on the application questions beginning Aug 1st.
