How would you define leadership/What does it mean to be a leader?
Leadership is unique to everyone, and may embody qualities such as: honesty, accountability, decisiveness, empathy, inspiration, and confidence. Leaders lead by example, maintain a positive attitude through good and bad times, they make time to know their team, and they coach and inspire others to be the next leaders within their organization and/or community.

How did your time with Leadership South Bend|Mishawaka help in your career growth?
I was introduced to Leadership South Bend-Mishawaka by a “mentor” from within my organization, at the time. This program inspired me to develop and do more for my career, my organization, and my community. I began to work toward my masters degree, and looked into joining some nonprofit boards where I thought I could help with their mission and purpose.

What is your favorite Leadership memory?
One of my favorite memories includes observing each team’s project presentation and realizing that they/we are many of the future “leaders” of this community.

Did your Leadership experience motivate you to give back to the South Bend/Mishawaka community?
Yes. With need for volunteers, sponsors and support by so many nonprofits in our community, I try to manage my time to make time to participate on some boards and committees.

Tell us one interesting fact about yourself:
While I enjoy my career, I love to develop young people through coaching or teaching. I look forward to the day when I may have the opportunity to coach and/or teach at the middle school or high school level.
